DJ AM passes…

The world famous celebrity disc jockey Adam Goldstein (aka DJ AM) has passed away yesterday in his New York apartment. Everyone I follow on twitter is deeply saddened by his passing. DJ AM was really friends with everyone. At first all I could think was “what a shame, he just survived that plane crash too…” but now reading everyone’s thoughts and tributes it makes you understand why it really is such a loss.

I knew who he was of course and enjoyed his sets always but now after doing research, just seeing what other people have to say, and watching past interviews he did on youtube, the man was a truly humble individual. You can really see who he is, and what he was about. The dude was “the” pimp premiere DJ and rocked a hard sneaker collection. The man was even on an episode of Entourage, and threw the first pitch at a Mets game! No other DJ does that lol. I was bitter at him for tricking the crowd at Hard Haunted Mansion last year into thinking he was Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk but now I can see how that fit into his personality. He was such a fan of music he was probably having more fun then anyone in the crowd.

R.I.P. DJ AM may you rock the golden turntables up in the heavens…

This song put a smile on my face today. It brought back a nice memory… When I was like 10 or 11 I remember Disneyland was advertising that the Main Street Electrical Parade was going away and this was your last chance to go see it. I begged my mom to take me and after a few days she finally gave in. All the lights and music everywhere~ peep the song to get your own Disneyland flashback :)

The MIA show last night was a good time. The venue Lot 613 was large and gave plenty of room to the 500+ people at the show. The night started late, everyone waited in line for about an hour to get in even though the ticket said doors at 9pm. Them Jeans was spinning when I got in, then followed Pase Rock who rocked a solid DJ set and then performed 2 songs. Blaqstarr followed with another solid DJ set. Finally! 1am MIA hit the stage blew it out the park. She was really on point. And I believe this is one of her first shows back since her pregnancy. Pase Rock twittered “Maya is murdering this shit no rehearsal. So good.” haha, Good times…

So it begins…

Hello and welcome to ROBOT EVIX. I wanted to start this blog to archive the things that I enjoy in life. I hope to narrow it down into a few major categories: music, technology, collectible toys, food… and anything else I randomly find interesting. Who knows? I guess that’s the exciting part. In my free time I enjoy DJing and making mixes for myself and my friends from the awesome music I find out in the blog-o-sphere. So as an added bonus I want to share these mixes, along with video and pictures from shows/events I attend in LA. Stay tuned…
