R.I.P. DJ Mehdi

Today is a sad day, DJ Mehdi has tragically passed away. Reports have it that he fell from the roof of his home in Paris. The 34 year old French producer always brought a bright energy to the turntables while carrying a big smile on his face. Posted only four days ago, click here to listen to the last mix DJ Mehdi created. Such a great humble person, the world will greatly miss DJ Mehdi. Our prayers go out to his friends and family. Don’t forget to go out and vote today people! Especially if your in California, yes on 19 and no on 23. California is voting to legalize marijuana under state law. Prop 23 is about removing greenhouse gas reducing measures put in place in California.

Daft Punk Joins Phoenix at Madison Square Garden

Daft Punk joined Phoenix in New York on 10/20 at Madison Square Garden for the close of their show. A bit random but totally awesome at the same time. Makes sense though, cool Frenchies stick together. Check out the video after the break. I hope they will be touring again sometime soon. Oh how I look forward to the day I get to see Daft Punk live again.

Siriusmo. Soon To A Venue Near You?

This video is kind of old (from Feb. 2007) and its the only video on Siriusmo’s YouTube account. Not to take anything away from Siriusmo of course. Too bad he never does live shows or goes on tour. Word has it that the man has stage fright and maybe he just doesn’t care for the hectic lifestyle of a traveling DJ/performer.

But wait a second, he does shows now! With help from his new label Monkeytown Records the brainchild of Modeselektor he is getting over his issues and booking gigs. The video below is from an in-store event that he did at a record store in Berlin. He also has a gig booked with Modeselektor on Dec 10th in West Wales, UK. A bit far for me but I guess we will have to wait our turn and hope he comes to the states sometime soon. I have to thank the Erol Alkan forum for the great news and video links.

Some Randomness from Oizo

Mr. Oizo released this YouTube video yesterday featuring Eric Flat the infamous head bobbing monkey puppet featured in the “Flat Beat” music video. Pharell also makes a kick ass cameo. It is a bit random because Mr. Oizo says that there is no new music associated with this he just did it for fun. Sure seems like there should be though, your just dying to hear some new shit from Oizo on that tape player at the end.

Here is what Mr. Oizo said on Twitter:

“don’t expect any music. this short film has NOTHING TO SELL, I just did it for NO REASON, with some very good friends. don’t ask me why.. enjoy! NO REASON is a good reason.”

R.I.P. Roc Raida

Wow WTF. People are dropping like flies for some reason. R.I.P. Roc Raida, an epic DJ from the world famous X-men / X-ecutioners, passed away around 2am today Sept. 19th. He practiced MMA and received a spinal injury a few years back. Word has it the injury and his history with back issues there after contributed to his death.

LOL I love Flight of the Conchords, their show never fails to make me laugh out loud. If you haven’t seen the episode where they get addicted to hair gel like crack fiends. This is a song they preformed while they were “cool”. Jermaine with those glasses and the keytar… classic
