The heatwave from Rad Summer continues with the label’s fourth release “Space Ace”, a 3 track scifi bass EP from producers Rx and Shiftee. The opening and title track “Space Ace” is an epic collaboration by the two producers that literally feels like a UFO lifting off. Rx’s solo contribution “Orbit” follows with a groovy bassline and quirky sample that invokes data transmissions from satellites. Rounding out the EP is a “Landing Boots”, Shiftee’s melodic downtempo composition.

Rx and Shiftee are a new production duo hailing from New York with several individual accomplishments. Rx is most commonly known for his monster collaboration “Malt Liquor” with Chae Hawk featured on Plastician’s dubstep/hip-hop crossover mixtape “Dubstep LA” and has shared the stage with many music’s biggest names. Shiftee is a 2x DMC World Champion and member of the DMC Hall of Fame with the likes of Craze, Atrak, Qbert, and Grand Master Roc Raida. Collectively and individually, Rx & Shiftee are two rising stars in dance music.

Skrillex’s new stage show dubbed the “Skrillex Cell” is absolutely nutty. The video above was taken as a test run going through the different looks. All the effects are coming from video projection. 3D projection mapping at its finest. At a time when a lot of DJ’s are rushing to get an impressive stage show together the “Skrillex Cell” sets the bar pretty high.

One of the set designs even includes an avatar that is mapped to Skrillex’s body motion. Check the video below for a clip of it in action:

Today is a sad day, DJ Mehdi has tragically passed away. Reports have it that he fell from the roof of his home in Paris. The 34 year old French producer always brought a bright energy to the turntables while carrying a big smile on his face. Posted only four days ago, click here to listen to the last mix DJ Mehdi created. Such a great humble person, the world will greatly miss DJ Mehdi. Our prayers go out to his friends and family.
